Client: Town of Antigonish

The Project involved selection of eight sites which were gauged during ice formation period; marked using a variety of methods; and monitored until breakup. Three minor breakups and the major spring fueshette were documented in a final report and video record. Ice volume generation and breakup pattern were evaluated to produce a number of proactive tasks which were undertaken. Both channel reshaping and retaining structures were considered to reduce the ice produced flooding which is so prevalent on the Wright’s River.  An annual follow-up monitoring program continues to provide feedback on successes to date and recommend additional controls.
