Drilling and Offshore Brian Lynch, P.Eng. Service Manager - Facilities & Equipment with Dowell of Canada. Projects included equipment design and installation for offshore drilling operations in the Arctic and the East Coast. Service Manager - Schlumberger Arctic Operations with Dowell of Canada. Operational areas included Esso Resources - Norman Wells; Esso Resources - Tuktoyaktuk; Gulf Oil - Beaufort Sea; Panarctic - High Arctic, Land and Ice Island drilling. Equipment designer involved with the design and installation of equipment on numerous offshore drilling rigs including pumping, cement and mud handling equipment. Was the cementing service supervisor (engineer) on the Gulf Tide Jack-up Drilling Rig during the later stages of testing and completed the abandonment of Mobil Oil’s Venture Discovery Well. Designed jacking table centralizer and platform jacket centralizers for east coast drilling operations
Project Manager for the fabrication of the Lasmo Nova Scotia offshore primary oil processing modules which were installed on the Rowan Gorilla III.
Designed BOP tensioning assembly & jacking table assembly for the Rowan Gorilla V, Pan Canadian project.
Harry Daemen, P.Eng.
Project manager to develop Conceptual Plan and Pre-Design of a 150 Hectare Industrial Park site adjoining the Goldboro landfall site. Determining the owner’s anticipated needs in terms of servicing and lot sizes, assisted with team to compile perimeter, roadway, and topographical data; develop conceptual layout of stormwater, transportation, and potential user lot sizes., and anticipated future growth features (ie airplane & helicopter landing facilities), adjacent energy park integration, and future services delineation. Graphical presentation material to aid in marketing the industrial park.
As a sub-consultant team member, to Alberta consultant (Reid Campbell) , undertook a Natural Gas Feasibility study for the Antigonish RDA and The Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities. C.J. MacLellan & Associates provided local mapping, data collection, and cost estimating for various construction techniques. The study assessed the feasibility of distribution franchise applications by either gas co-operatives or municipal utility structures.
Assisted as a member of the joint team with SGE Group Inc in a socio-economic study to monitor Guysborough County on-shore project impacts (positive & negative) during the 18 month SOEI construction period. Assisted in preparing material for Focus Group workshops, business operator surveys, and other community feedback through monthly surveys of a cross-section of the Guysborough business community.
Neil van Rossum, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.
Neil worked for six years in various engineering capacities for Alltemp Sensors, the largest industrial temperature sensor manufacturer in Canada. With head office in Edmonton, Alltemp Sensors serviced the western Canada petrochemical market. Satellite facilities serviced southern Ontario and Houston, TX. Neil acted as the resident technical expert on all matters relating to temperature sensor manufacturing and calibration. Major responsibilities are listed below.
Brian Lynch, P.Eng. Worked 3 - four month work terms at the Co-op Refineries in Regina, Saskatchewan. Jobs included working with maintenance crews and as shift relief in plant operations. Plant operation positions were in fractionation, boiler house and storage facilities (product blending). Was employed by Dow Industrial Services (DIS), a Division of Dow Chemical of Canada. DIS provided operational and pre-operational maintenance services to the oil & gas, power utilities, pulp & industry, and manufacturing industry. Provided the Project Manager function for the fabrication of the Condensate Processing Equipment for the Cohasset - Panuke offshore project of Lasmo in 1991. Harry Daemen, P.Eng.
Harry Daemen, P.Eng. In his twelve years with Ontario Hydro in both the Thermal and Nuclear generation plants, he was involved in providing in-plant engineering and commissioning for numerous industrial processes. In the consulting sector in Nova Scotia in the past 11 years this experience was applied to and further extended in projects for NSPI, STORA, and Michelin Tires.
Neil van Rossum, M.A.Sc., P.Eng. Responsible for petrochemical pressure fitting design and registration for custom and standard sensor fittings (flanged, threaded, socket). Responsible for Welding Procedure control and development, for standard and exotic materials. Responsible for special temperature sensor applications – design and manufacture of furnace (pipe surface), reactor multipoint, and down-hole multipoint. Responsible for operation and development of industrial temperature calibration laboratory. Responsible for product certifications (CSA) of hazardous locations products – sensor electrical enclosures.
