C.J. MacLellan & Associates conducted a complete survey of the topographical features of the water storage reservoir behind the dam on the James River.  From this information the capacity of the reservoir was calculated.  This study for the Town of Antigonish Water Utility involved carrying out soundings along lines spaced 10 metres apart, and establishing ground elevations from the waters edge upward for a minimum of 6 metres to predict future storage potential.

In a subsequent project, our firm provided project sub-consultant support to CBCL on the upgrading of the existing concrete dam which raised the reservoir 2 metres.  This included; acquiring three dimensional information on the existing concrete works and downstream features; providing testing services on concrete and specialty anchors; and involvement in construction supervision.
