Guysborough Landfill Groundwater Monitoring Wells C.J. MacLellan & Associates in association with Bill Shaw completed a design / build project in late 1996 which provided full "Turnkey" provision of six dual piezometer monitoring wells. The first suite of samples were, tested, and analyzed in autumn of 1996 and twice annually since that time. Guysborough Landfill Control Program Design & Implementation A project was initiated by CJMI in early 1997 to design and project manage modifications to the surface water collection system, leachate attenuation, adequate cover provision and a leachate venting and monitoring program. This was completed with owner's forces in the following year on both the north and south portions of the landfill. Guysborough Landfill Surface Water Monitoring Surface water tests during various seasonal runoff conditions (ie. February , April, and August 1997) were completed. Field activities also included stream flow gauging and a conductivity monitoring program to ascertain all variables to best schedule the surface water monitoring program. The CJMI design package for surface water control, capture, detention, and wetlands attenuation is currently in place for the North and South systems. Twice annual sampling program service has been provided since 1997. A 15 tonne per day Shrimp and Crab Shell open windrow Compost facility was placed in operation in 2000 in response to an urgent need The below building was designed and constructed and placed in service in late 2000 and is used to house the incoming organic wastes and the first 50 days of the composting operation using an alternate stall transfer concept developed by C.J. MacLellan & Associates Inc.
