In the Summer of 2002, C.J. MacLellan & Associates completed a water and wastewater investigation for the 140 home community of Port Bickerton.  The wastewater investigation included a homeowner survey as well as a topographical survey.

A variety of of On-Site, Cluster, and central wastewater serviced options were developed and five receiving water sites were evaluated.  The final report, delivered in October 2002, recommended a Groundwater source development with treatment requirements, a low pressure forcemain wastewater conveyance systems due to  undulating topography, and a Sequential Batch Reactor treatment plant with an offshore outfall located near the present fish processing plant site.
