Cribbons Point Harbour Development
This project to
provide a harbour development
plan for the Cribbon’s
Point Harbour in Antigonish,
N.S.
was commenced in 1996. The project
included
developing six potential configurations for breakwater optimization and
layout
for a co-existent commercial and recreational user base. Additionally a
marketing component was undertaken to indicate the harbour improvements
required to generate sustainable revenue.
Coastal
engineering for wave attenuation and sedimentation minimization were
provided
by Baird & Associates Ltd. and the Environmental Assessment by
Land
&
Sea Environmental Ltd.
A resultant five
year phased implementation plan, capital cost estimates,
and a twelve year cashflow
projection were
developed for the recommended layout selected through the Harbour
Authority
feedback generated by two public meetings
Subsequently
C.J. MacLellan & Associates’
staff provided design, project management, and construction inspection
services
for the floating plant basin
dredging and
recreational
/ fishery marina (2002).
Work included
co-ordination meetings with DFO
and Harbour Authority Officials, on-site
supervision of dredging, float and crib construction including concrete
testing
and final assembly. Design of a revised road access , HA building, and
additional wharf infrastructure was completed.
